Perhaps people should try to understand the true origins of the recent entrance tests. The tests began in concept in the year 1857. In this year, the Calcutta University had initiated the Entrance Exam. Candidates who would pass this exam with flying colors would become eligible for admission to the University. Later, the name was changed to the name known as Matriculation Exam. This exam was considered as one of the earliest entrance tests. However, it was actually in the 1950s when the first ever entrance test, JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) was inaugurated by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT).

Ever since then, the JEE and CAT have been universally recognized as entrance tests and exams. The JEE is an entrance test for engineering aspirants to get admission in different colleges. On the other hand, the CAT 2013 is going to be the most recognized test for those, who wish to enter into the field of management studies. Over time, there have been other tests as well. One of the most popular tests in recent times is the AIEEE which is short for the All India Engineering/Architecture Entrance Exam. This test is conducted every year and it attracts a number of candidates and aspirants who wish to take the studies.

Another test that is fast becoming largely popular is the upcoming GATE 2013. It is conducted to evaluate the eligibility of candidates pursuing the engineering or architecture fields.
